I went at a very quiet time of year and the hotel felt strangely deserted but everything was in first rate condition and ready to receive large numbers of people, which apparently occurs for weddings and corporate events. Staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that the historic surroundings never felt creepy.
A perfect stay - cannot fault it - shame there were so few guests - they deserved more.
We both enjoyed our stay.
It was a bit to quiet not many other people there.
The setting was great- it looked lovely from the outside. The room we had was lovely- nice big comfy bed and modern bathroom. Service at check in / out & restaurant was efficent and friendly.
A wedding was on the night we stayed. Bit noisy and we were not able to access the lounge with the fire, which we had been looking forward to using. I think we should of been advised of a wedding being on when we booked. We were the only people having dinner, so the atmosphere in the restaurant was very flat.
The castle itself and the grounds are lovely. The unique do not disturb "signs" are cute and memorable too. Little touches like this made it an amazing experience.
Have stayed many times and it is one of my favourite hotels.
It was different and it was exceptionally clean. Rooms had been tastefully modernised yet the place retained all its character.
A beautiful old historic building, well kept with attentive but not "in your face" staff. It does not have many rooms and was not busy when we were there so it was very relaxing. The staff was very accommodating and the food was excellent. New technology such as WiFi and large flat screen TVs were blended with the traditional architecture an upscale room comforts.
A quiet well run country hotel immaculately clean. A great combination of old tradition with modern additions.
After arriving very layte the staff did all they could to ensure I could relax and get something to eat. This was a very pleasant consideration that they could have easily made excuses to avoid the extra hassle I was causing by my late arrival. I appreciated this services
Breakfast started too late for me.. A small point but it was disruptive
Luxurious room, even if the access was rather unusual and awkward.
The relaxed atmosphere, excellent friendly service from the staff and the bedroom itself. The cooked breakfast was very good.
Excellent place to visit and stay, the owner of the hall made every effort with us while we stayed there and this made the stay even more enjoyable and relaxing, Bravo Jan! Breakfast was excellent.
A first class hotel. We will certainly be going back. We stay in many good quality hotels and this one is about the best. Try it for yourself. Thanks to all associated with the hotel - all your hard work and care is certainly very worthwhile. Greg and Sue.
